Collaborating With Fungi by Abagail Brown

Walthamstow artist Abagail Brown came to us in August 2021 with an early concept for her ongoing project 'Living Sulptures - Collaborating with Fungi'. She wanted to inoculate the beautiful animal masks she makes from cardboard and allow the mycelium to consume the mask. The living sculptures would 'explore the dualities of life and death, beauty and decay, connection and disconnect in a very real way'. We got her started with 3 different methods of inoculating her masks and letting mycelium colonise them. Abagail had amazing success with her first attempt at this project and we look forward to seeing where she takes it!
