Micro ID - The Invisible World of Soil 2024

In August 2024, Fat Fox & The Fungi Club teamed up with artist and microscopy enthusiast Michelle Tyliki to explore the soil microcosm with London locals who brought thier own soil sample to let's see who's living in our gardens, parks or forests! 

We learned to identify common microscopic morphologies (fungal hyphae, bacteria, nematodes, micro arthropods...) at 400x magnification using a compound microscope. 

Everything we discovered was recorded to contribute to an ongoing open-source research project to help further develop the budding science of soil microscopy using AI.
